Immediate Requirements:

Building a Medical Centre

Land has been allocated for a medical center in Naiyobi, one of three villages for the Maasai people. Building plans have been drawn up in accordance with Tanzanian Government regulations. It is hoped that the center will provide medical care for the entire community, including a birthing room, with a special emphasis on medicines and aids for the elderly. The center is expected to significantly reduce the time, expense, and stress currently associated with traveling 125km to the nearest hospital for assistance.

Surveys conducted to bring water to the site have recommended constructing a 3.5km pipeline from an existing well, deemed a more cost-effective option than digging a new well.

The proposed building site for the medical centre.

Costs and Targets:

The finance needed to build the medical centre is $141,000 AUD plus $24,000 AUD for the pipeline, bringing the total cost to $165,000 AUD. The project has been divided into 3 stages and will aims to be completed by the end of 2028

Note: Costs for transporting materials to this remote site are around a third of each year’s target.

  • The target for 2025 is $57,000 AUD to cover pipeline and foundations.
  • The second stage is for approx. $55,000 AUD for super structure, walls, floor, roof and ceilings
  • The third stage is for approx $55,000 AUD for windows, electrical, plumbing and finishing.

What can you do:

Donations of any amount would be greatly appreciated. If 80,000 people gave just $2 we would almost reach the entire target

Can you help us meet the 2025 target of $57,000AUD?

  • A $100 donation by 570 people would achieve it.
  • A $50 donation by 1,114 people would achieve it.
  • A $25 donation by 2,228 people would achieve it.

Donations through Health Serve Australia are tax deductible.
Thank you so much for your help in bringing health and hope to the elderly Massai in a remote part of Tanzania. Your donation however big or small is a great encouragement to us.

Provision of a 4WD vehicle

This was the number one need. A suitable 4WD Purchased August 2023 thanks to the generosity of the Burnside Family Church in SA. Daniel undertook extensive driver training and received his license. There are two licensed drivers of the vehicle.

The impact of the vehicle’s arrival has been immediately felt with testimonies to the following benefiting the Massai of all ages.

  • Closest medical help is 25 kilometre away and with the vehicle means that people can get help faster and without the pain of being carried on a stretcher by four people over 4-5 hours at any hour of day or night.
  • Drinking water and firewood can now be transported in bulk much more efficiently.
  • Daniel can visit the three villages in a more timely manner than walking allowed.
